This practice carries the name “Sao” in honour of my late father. To enter Canada as a refugee, he took on his best friend's last name, pretending to be a member of their family. Years later, I helped him reclaim his birth surname, Sao, and when he passed away I made it my own.

Because his name won't continue through lineage, I wanted it to live on through the work I do as the founder. At Sao Therapy, we believe healing happens in community and is best seen through a holistic lens, because tending to the relationships in our lives can create profound change. Healing within ourselves is essential—and it can also become the catalyst that allows us to heal alongside the people we love.
